Dear Friends,
Today, I am overjoyed to share nothing short of historic news. After twelve long years of persistent effort, unwavering prayer, and faithful advocacy, House Bill 193 – Firearm Law Revisions will now become law. Its effective date is December 1, 2025.
Both the North Carolina House and Senate voted to override the Governor’s veto today – the House by a margin of 72-48 and the Senate 29-19, just enough votes to bring this long journey to a victorious end.
We give glory to God for this stupendous triumph, and we give thanks to you.
Thank you for your prayers, presence, voice, courage, support, and steadfast commitment to protecting our children’s lives.
A special word of gratitude must go to Rep. Jeffrey McNeely (R-Iredell), the primary sponsor and unwavering champion of this legislation. His leadership, along with the support of many others, helped carry this bill across the finish line. We also thank Sen. Steve Jarvis (R-Davidson) for his advocacy on the Senate side. We should thank the Speaker of the House, Destin Hall (R-Caldwell), who gave this bill new life when it stalled in the House. He jumped-started it and got it moving again. Of course, we also appreciate the seventy-one Republicans who voted for the override and the one courageous Democrat who crossed over and voted with Republicans – without that vote, the bill would not have survived.
We thank God for hearing His people’s prayers and for your participation in this fight, from the first word spoken in support to the final vote cast.
Today is a day of celebration and a call to continued faithfulness. Let us pray that this law is implemented with wisdom and care. Let us pray for the schools, the staff, the parents, and most of all, the children.
Above all, let us thank the One who makes all things possible. In the final analysis, we know the Lord did this! Doxology!!!
With a heart full of gratitude,

Dr. Mark Creech
